Rare Dalai Lama Enthronement Artworks to Be Auctioned in London

A rare collection of paintings and photographs linked to the 14th Dalai Lama’s 1940 enthronement will be auctioned by Bonhams Network in London on June 4, ahead of the Dalai Lama's 90th birthday celebrations, reported Bonhams Apr 23. The sale includes 40 watercolours by Indian artist Krishna Kanwal and archival materials from Sir Basil Gould, a British government representative at the ceremony. Items, including early portraits and cine films, are expected to attract strong interest from collectors and institutions, highlighting Tibet’s rich cultural and political history..
