Around 25,000 Attend His Holiness’ 91st Birthday Celebration in Ladakh

His Holiness the Dalai Lama attended his 91st birthday celebration at Shewatsel Teaching Ground in Leh, Ladakh, on July 6, where an estimated 25,000 people gathered. Arriving by mini-bus, His Holiness greeted followers lining the route with white silk scarves before lighting a butter lamp to open the program. Ladakh Buddhist Association President Chering Dorjay, CTA President Penpa Tsering and Thiksé Rinpoché presented traditional representations of the Buddha’s body, speech and mind. His Holiness later addressed the crowd, saying he hopes to continue helping people through compassion and Buddhist teachings.
