China Seeks Media Curbs on Tibetan Outlets Ahead of BRICS

Chinese Embassy officials in India have reportedly pressed to restrict media access for organizations linked to Falun Gong and Tibet ahead of the BRICS leaders’ summit in New Delhi on September 12–13. The Print reported that embassy officials raised concerns that journalists from these outlets could question the Chinese delegation. India’s Ministry of External Affairs began the accreditation process, with media access controlled by the Indian government. The outlets mentioned include The Epoch Times, Radio Free Asia, and Voice of Tibet. The request comes as India and China work to stabilize ties after years of tension following the 2020 Galwan clashes.
