The Tibet Policy Institute has published an analysis warning that China is expanding its use of artificial intelligence and targeted digital messaging to influence global views of Tibet. Written by research fellow Tenzin Dalha, the analysis says a June conference in Lhasa brought together nearly 300 scholars, journalists, officials and communication specialists to discuss audience profiling, big data, AI and algorithm-driven content. It also points to foreign influencers, managed visits and media partnerships used to promote state-approved narratives focused on development and stability. The analysis describes this as a long-term effort to gain influence over international discourse on Tibet.
