Tibetans Honor Sigrid Joss-Arnd, Lifelong Friend of the Tibetan People, at Bern Memorial Service

A memorial service in Bern honored Sigrid Joss-Arnd, former director of the Swiss Red Cross Tibetan Relief Programme, who passed away on June 25, 2026. Held on July 14, the service brought together family, humanitarian workers and more than 30 members of the Tibetan community. Joss-Arnd led the program from 1978 to 1994, helping Tibetan refugees with housing, family reunification, employment and settlement in Switzerland. Her work followed Switzerland’s decision to accept 1,000 Tibetan refugees. The Office of Tibet conveyed condolences from Thinlay Chukki, Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
