In a bipartisan letter, they stressed the need to counter China’s repression in Tibet, including surveillance, arbitrary detentions, forced education policies, and weaponizing water resources. The senators highlighted past legislation reaffirming the coordinator’s role in promoting dialogue between Beijing and the Dalai Lama, protecting Tibetan rights, and ensuring water security.
