US Secretary of State Marco Rubio marked the Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday with a message highlighting his enduring influence through unity, peace, and compassion. Rubio emphasized the United States' firm commitment to promoting human rights in Tibet and supporting the preservation of Tibetan language, culture, and religion. He also reaffirmed US backing for Tibetans’ right to freely choose and venerate their religious leaders without interference. The statement was released as celebrations took place in Dharamshala, India, attended by Indian officials and actor Richard Gere.
