Toronto School Removes Yearbook Quotes Over Messages on Tibet, Palestine

Parkdale Collegiate Institute in Toronto has removed all Grade 12 yearbook quotes after some students included messages like “Free Tibet” and “Free Palestine.” The Toronto District School Board (TDSB) stated the decision followed a Ministry of Education memo discouraging political content in schools. Though students were advised to rephrase their quotes, all messages were later excluded for “fairness.” The designated space will remain blank for manual notes. TDSB says other schools may follow suit, citing similar recent actions and ongoing concerns about political expression in educational settings.
