Organizers of Switzerland’s annual “Rendez-vous Bundesplatz” light show in Bern removed a visual segment featuring Tibet, citing it was “too political” for projection on the country’s Federal Palace. The decision replaces Tibet’s imagery with a Thai Buddha, while China is also excluded from the show. Swiss lawmaker Fabian Molina and scholar Ralph Weber criticized the move as appeasing Beijing. Activists said the removal reflects Europe’s growing deference to China and erases Tibet’s cultural and political identity from global visibility.
