SFT France Protests Pompidou Over Chinese Artist’s Tibet Fireworks Stunt

Tibetan activists from Students for a Free Tibet (SFT) France staged a protest outside Paris’s Centre Pompidou on Thursday, condemning the institution for hosting Chinese artist Cai Guo-Qiang, who faces global backlash for his recent fireworks display on a sacred mountain in occupied Tibet. The performance, held in collaboration with Arc’teryx, caused environmental damage and sparked outrage among Tibetans and environmentalists. SFT France accused the Centre and its partner Group F of complicity in China’s colonial exploitation of Tibet and demanded ethical accountability from global art institutions celebrating Cai’s work.
