Four prominent human rights organizations are strongly urging German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to confront Beijing’s systematic abuses during his upcoming state visit to China. The civil society coalition, including the Tibet Initiative Deutschland and the World Uyghur Congress, published an open letter demanding strict actions against China's increasing transnational repression, such as the surveillance and intimidation of diaspora communities within Germany. Furthermore, the advocates are pressing the German government to explicitly address severe, ongoing rights violations in Tibet, East Turkestan, and Hong Kong, demanding consistent enforcement of international human rights obligations.
