Human Rights First announced that actor and activist Richard Gere will receive its inaugural Visionary Award at the 2025 Awards Celebration on October 14 in New York City. The award honors leaders who use their influence to advance human rights. Gere, long known for his advocacy on Tibet, has chaired the International Campaign for Tibet and co-founded Tibet House US. His humanitarian work also includes efforts against HIV/AIDS, refugee support, and aid for the homeless. Human Rights First CEO Uzra Zeya said Gere’s commitment exemplifies “artistry in service of justice.”
