Richard Gere brings Dalai Lama’s message of compassion to Ottawa

Richard Gere, actor and Chair of the International Campaign for Tibet, joined Canadian parliamentarians and Tibetan-Canadian community members for Tibet Day on the Hill in Ottawa on November 17. The day included high-level meetings, a reception, media interviews, and a screening of the documentary Wisdom of Happiness. MPs from the Parliamentary Friends of Tibet endorsed declaring 2025 the Year of Compassion and voiced support for Tibetan self-determination and renewed Sino-Tibetan dialogue. Gere met senior officials and urged Canada to back a peaceful resolution for Tibet. More than 90 guests attended the evening film screening on Parliament Hill.
