The Nobel Peace Center in Oslo has removed Christmas ornaments featuring the Dalai Lama’s image after criticism that the items were made in China, where possession of his photograph is banned, Phayul.com reported. Brussels-based analyst Theresa Fallon first raised the issue, calling it “surreal.” Advocacy group Chinese Youth Stand 4 Tibet also condemned the irony of China profiting from commodifying the leader it suppresses. The Center said the ornaments were produced by a Norwegian supplier using Chinese subcontractors and confirmed they have now been withdrawn.
