ICT Urges US Tech Firms to Cut Ties With China’s Surveillance State

The International Campaign for Tibet (ICT) has expressed alarm over Associated Press reports revealing links between major US technology companies and China’s surveillance state. ICT President Tencho Gyatso said it was appalling that American firms profited from selling to Chinese security services responsible for repression in Tibet and Xinjiang. The group urged US corporations to immediately end all business with China’s police and affiliated entities. ICT also called on Congress to hold accountable companies enabling surveillance, stressing that human rights and dignity must be placed above corporate profits in dealing with authoritarian regimes.
