Gonpo Kyi, sister of imprisoned Tibetan businessman Dorjee Tashi, is in critical condition after jumping from a hotel in Lhasa following repeated abuse by Chinese police. According to Tibet.net, she traveled to Lhasa on August 18 to appeal for her right to meet her brother and his lawyer but was dragged, beaten, and confined by police. On August 20, after another violent confrontation, she reportedly jumped from the second floor in protest. Videos show her denouncing violations of her rights. Chinese authorities denied her immediate medical care after the incident.
