The Inter-Parliamentary Group for Tibet in the European Parliament has issued a stern condemnation of the recent mass arrests in Zachukha, eastern Tibet. Following reports of approximately 80 Tibetans being detained and tortured after protesting illegal gold mining, MEPs expressed grave concern over Beijing’s "transnational repression" and environmental destruction. The group highlighted the systematic use of communication blackouts and physical abuse to silence local dissent. Calling for the immediate release of all detainees, European lawmakers urged the international community to hold Chinese authorities accountable for these escalating violations of human rights and cultural autonomy in the region.
