Global Human Rights Groups Condemn Transnational Repression

Over 50 international NGOs, including Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International, have united to condemn transnational repression by authoritarian regimes. In a joint statement, they highlight efforts by governments, like China's, to intimidate activists and suppress free speech abroad. According to the Hong Kong Democracy Council, Chinese authorities orchestrated harassment against protesters during the 2023 APEC Summit. The statement urges the U.S. government to take action and calls for stronger global measures to protect dissidents and uphold human rights.
