A Tibetan Belgian citizen was denied entry at Beijing Airport while traveling to Tibet for a family reunion due to their devotion to the Dalai Lama and community activities, including organizing a weekend Tibetan school. According to a Voice of Tibet report, the individual was detained for over 20 hours before being deported. Similar cases have occurred, including last year’s rejection of another Tibetan Belgian. Despite China’s visa-free policy for several European nations, Tibetans with foreign citizenship face strict scrutiny, highlighting continued discrimination against Tibetans in exile.
