The FBI is investigating a possible cyberattack by China on iPhones belonging to senior staff of a U.S. presidential campaign, as reported by Forbes. Mobile security expert Rocky Cole, founder of iVerify, revealed his company flagged unusual settings on the officials’ devices, raising concerns about Chinese state-affiliated hacking group Salt Typhoon. Salt Typhoon reportedly breached telecom giants like Verizon, possibly targeting communications of campaign officials linked to President Trump and VP Kamala Harris. The hack could grant access to private messages and location data. The Chinese Embassy denied involvement, dismissing the allegations as disinformation.
