Trump Invited Dalai Lama to White House in 2020

Former Sikyong Dr. Lobsang Sangay has said that US President Donald Trump invited His Holiness the Dalai Lama to the White House during his first term. Speaking to WION, he revealed that Trump sent a signed letter in 2020 on His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 85th birthday, extending greetings and an invitation. Sangay noted that past US presidents had met the Dalai Lama, while President Biden has yet to do so. He also discussed US aid to Tibetan refugees, recent funding cuts and restorations, and the Dalai Lama’s July announcement that his reincarnation will continue under the Gaden Phodrang Trust.
