Tibetan community representatives attended a celebration of life for former U.S. Congressman Barney Frank in Boston to honor his legacy. Frank, who passed away on May 19, 2026, at age 86, was a pivotal supporter of the Tibetan people. In the early 1990s, he successfully sponsored an immigration provision that allowed 1,000 displaced Tibetans to resettle in the United States, laying the foundation for today's thriving diaspora. The Tibetan delegation personally conveyed condolences to Frank's family. They also met with key allies Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi and Representative Jim McGovern to reinforce ties.
