Tibetans in exile held a candlelight vigil in Dharamshala to mourn Tulku Humkar Dorje Rinpoche, a respected religious leader who died under suspicious circumstances while in Vietnamese police custody, allegedly with Chinese involvement. The vigil, organized by four Tibetan NGOs, called on Vietnam to return Rinpoche’s body to his family and conduct a thorough investigation. Activists said he was arrested in Saigon on March 25 in a joint operation by Vietnamese police and Chinese agents, and died four days later. The incident has raised concerns over transnational repression and human rights abuses.
