Odisha signed a July 15 MoU with Rigon Thupten Mindrolling, also known as Jeerang Monastery, to promote Buddhist pilgrimage, scholarship and cultural exchange. Formalized at Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar, the agreement brings tourism and culture departments together with the monastery, led by Gyetrul Jigme Rinpoche. Planned programs include meditation retreats, pilgrimage circuits and monastic immersion experiences. The partners will also support academic collaborations, Buddhist conferences and exchanges among scholars and institutions. The monastery in Gajapati district is the largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery in eastern India and serves Phuntsokling Tibetan Settlement, home to nearly 2,000 Tibetan refugees.
