Tibetans Concerned Over China’s Retirement Age Hike and Its Impact on Jobs

China’s plan to raise the retirement age has sparked concerns among government workers in Tibet, according to Radio Free Asia. The policy, aimed at addressing the country’s aging population, will gradually increase the retirement age from 2024. Many Tibetans fear this change will delay their post-retirement plans, limit opportunities for private ventures, and worsen issues like corruption and unemployment. Tibetan workers also express dissatisfaction with workplace conditions, citing political indoctrination and stress, which has already led to resignations and rising unemployment among Tibetan youth.
