The number of Tibetan students arriving in India has sharply dropped, with no new arrivals this year compared to hundreds before 2008. TCV Director Tsultrim Dorjee attributes this to Chinese efforts to assimilate Tibetan children into "colonial schools" that promote Chinese language and culture, erasing Tibetan identity. The Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) is pushing for international pressure on China to allow the movement of Tibetans into India. Currently, TCV serves around 6,000 students, down from over 12,000.
