The 28th Shoton Festival concluded on 20 May 2025 with a keynote address by Kyabje Kundeling Tatsak Rinpoche, who praised the role of Tibetan opera in preserving cultural heritage. The 13-day festival featured performances from 14 opera troupes and culminated in the play Drowa Sangmo by the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts. Kalon(Minister) Dolma Gyari and top Tibetan officials attended the closing ceremony. Rinpoche lauded the event’s dedication to His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday and urged younger generations to carry forward Tibet’s spiritual and artistic traditions amid ongoing challenges.
