Tibetan Protesters Reinstated After Free Speech Clash at US-China Soccer Match

Tibetan activists were briefly evicted during a U.S.-China women’s soccer match in Minnesota after displaying “Free Tibet” banners and chanting slogans near the Chinese team. The eviction sparked boos and chants of “Free speech!” from other spectators. The activists were later allowed back, though their banners were confiscated. Wearing “Free Tibet” shirts and holding Tibetan flags, they continued their protest. Activist Tenzin Palsang stated the incident showed global support for Tibetan voices. She highlighted the repression in Tibet, including Chinese-run colonial boarding schools that suppress Tibetan identity.
