Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile Opens Eighth Session with Key Discussions on Culture and International Support

The 17th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile began its eighth session on September 11, 2024, in Dharamshala. Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel opened the session, which included Sikyong Penpa Tsering, Deputy Speaker Dolma Tsering, and parliament members. The Speaker highlighted key events, including His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s successful surgery and international support for Tibet, such as the US Resolve Tibet Act. Discussions focused on the Department of Religion and Culture, with clarifications on preserving Tibetan traditions and countering interference in recognizing the Dalai Lama’s reincarnation.
