Five prominent Tibetan non-governmental organizations have issued a joint statement condemning China’s illegal gold mining operations in Zachukha. The coalition highlighted the severe environmental degradation of the "Serkhok" valley and the violent suppression of local protestors. While many of the 80 original detainees were released following reported torture, seven Tibetans remain missing in "enforced disappearance." The NGOs demand their immediate, unconditional release and an end to the destructive mining projects. They called upon the international community and the United Nations to intervene, urging global pressure to halt Beijing’s systematic exploitation of Tibetan natural resources and cultural heritage.
