On the 35th anniversary of conferring the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize to His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the Tibetan Government-in-Exile's Kashag condemned China's repression in Tibet. According to the Kashag statement, Beijing's policies are eroding Tibetan identity through forced assimilation, including mandating Chinese-language education and placing children in colonial-style boarding schools. The Kashag also criticized China's interference in Tibetan Buddhism and exploitation of natural resources, including hydropower projects. Highlighting international concern, the Kashag urged global support to pressure China to respect Tibetans’ human rights and safeguard their cultural heritage.
