Tibetan Election Commission extends voter registration to Nov 30

The Election Commission of the Central Tibetan Administration has extended voter registration for the 2025–2026 Sikyong and 18th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile elections until November 30, 2025. The decision follows appeals from Tibetan settlements, where many residents are engaged in the winter sweater business. According to the EC, the extension aligns with Article 20 of the Election Rules, allowing late registrations within 14 days of the deadline. However, the EC declined requests to postpone the preliminary election set for February 1, 2026, citing regulations that require adherence to the established election schedule.
