Tibetan Athlete Secures Third Place in High-Altitude Ice Marathon

According to Radio Free Asia, Tibetan runner Lobsang Tharchin secured third place in the Pangong Ice Ultra, a 55-kilometer race on a frozen lake in Ladakh. Competing at 4,274 meters elevation in -20°C temperatures, the 33-year-old from Sonam Ling Settlement finished in 5:19:10, proudly raising the Tibetan flag. The event, promoting winter tourism and climate awareness, was organized by the Adventure Sports Foundation of Ladakh. Another Tibetan, Namgyal Tsering, placed third in the 21-kilometer category. The marathon received support from local authorities under India’s Jal Jeevan Mission.
