Tibetan Advocates Raise Alarm on School Closures in Tibet at UN Event

Tibetan rights advocates spoke at a UN Human Rights Council side event in Geneva about China's suppression of the Tibetan language and recent school closures in Tibet. According to the International Campaign for Tibet, speakers highlighted how Tibetans are punished for defending their language, with many detained or tortured. Palmo Tenzin stressed the loss of Tibetan children's connection to their culture, while Gloria Montgomery called on China to honor its international obligations. In response, China denied the claims, dismissing concerns raised by Tibet's representatives.
