Representative Tsering Yangkey of the Office of Tibet–London met Welsh politicians in Cardiff on 23 March 2025. According to Tibet.net, she urged Mark Drakeford MS to advocate against Chinese colonial boarding schools in Tibet and highlight Tibetan language suppression. Drakeford, a former First Minister, acknowledged China's repression of Tibetan linguistic rights and promised support within the Welsh Parliament. Independent MS Rhys ab Owen also backed Tibetan language preservation. The meetings, part of an outreach program, were supported by longtime Tibet advocate Eilian Williams and the Tibetan Community in Britain’s Regional Coordinator.
