The 9th Thiksey Rinpoche donated 62 kanals (approximately 7.75 acres) of land to the Central Tibetan Administration for Tibetan welfare in Ladakh on July 25, 2025. Sikyong Penpa Tsering led a CTA delegation to formally acknowledge the generous gift, which will support relocating the Jangthang Tibetan Settlement in Chumur and provide housing for Tibetan families in Leh lacking permanent residences. During the visit, Rinpoche consecrated the land and interacted with the Chumur nomadic community. Speaking at Sonamling community hall, Sikyong praised Rinpoche's contributions beyond Buddhist communities, noting his support for Muslim communities. Rinpoche called the donation a moral responsibility, reciprocating the Dalai Lama's historical support for Himalayan monks in Tibet.
