Swiss Parliament Hosts Historic Celebration of Dalai Lama’s 90th Birthday

The 90th birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama was celebrated for the first time inside the Swiss Parliament in Bern on 17 September. Organized by the Swiss–Tibetan Friendship Association and the Tibet Bureau Geneva, the event brought together over 50 Swiss parliamentarians from multiple parties, alongside Tibetan leaders and community representatives. Speakers highlighted shared values of democracy, peace, and compassion, while recalling Switzerland’s decades-long support for Tibetan refugees. A birthday cake, photo exhibition, and cultural reflections marked the occasion. The gathering was hailed as a powerful message of solidarity with Tibet and His Holiness’s teachings.
