Southeast Asian Buddhists Offer Long-Life Prayers to Dalai Lama

More than a thousand Buddhists from Korea and ten Southeast Asian countries gathered in Dharamshala to offer long-life prayers and cultural performances for His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday. Organised by Buddhist centres from Singapore, Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand, the event featured prayers led by Theravada monks, a joint statement declaring His Holiness the “Universal Supreme Patriarch of the Buddhist World,” and a mandala offering. His Holiness shared reflections on his life and thanked the assembly for their devotion. The celebration concluded with dances and songs from eight Asian countries.
