Sikyong Urges Paris Museums to Restore "Tibet" in Artefact Descriptions

On September 14, 2024, Sikyong of the Central Tibetan Administration expressed disappointment in two Paris museums, the Musée du quai Branly and Musée Guimet, for replacing "Tibet" with "Xizang" and "Himalayan World" in their Tibetan artefact collections. According to the Tibet.net, this change aligns with China's effort to erase Tibet's cultural identity. In a letter addressed to key French officials, Sikyong urged the museums to correct this, citing Tibet’s historical and cultural significance. The letter also highlighted concerns over China's suppression of Tibetan identity and misrepresentation of Tibet in international contexts.
