Sikyong Penpa Tsering Meets Canadian Lawmakers in Toronto

On 13 May 2025, Sikyong Penpa Tsering met Canadian MPs James Maloney, Karim Bardeesy, and former minister Arif Virani at the Tibetan Canadian Cultural Centre in Toronto. Joined by CTA Representative Namgyal Choedup and Canada Tibet Committee’s Sherap Therchin, the Sikyong thanked Canadian leaders for their support and urged their participation in the Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday celebrations, the Year of Compassion. He stressed promoting the Dalai Lama’s messages and called for continued Canadian presence in global parliamentary forums on Tibet. The meeting affirmed Canada’s role in supporting Tibet’s peaceful struggle.
