Sikyong Extends Condolences After Passing of Senator Jean François Humbert

Sikyong Penpa Tsering expressed deep sadness over the passing of longtime friend and ally, Senator Jean François Humbert. In a letter dated 24 November 2025, he praised Humbert’s decades-long support for Tibet, both in the French Senate and through wider international advocacy. Humbert often spoke against cultural repression in Tibet and helped raise global awareness of the Tibetan cause. Sikyong offered condolences to the senator’s family, calling his death a blow to justice, human dignity, and the struggle for Tibet. He said Humbert’s legacy would continue to inspire many.
