An investigation by the International Campaign for Tibet details how Chinese authorities are imposing ideological education on Tibetan elementary students through “red” re-education, Mao worship, and military-style training. The report documents first-graders in Medog and Lhasa being shown rifles by uniformed personnel and taken to a museum dedicated to Chairman Mao under the slogan “Pass on the red heritage.” According to the findings, these activities are part of a wider state strategy to weaken Tibetan language and cultural identity by fostering early loyalty to the Chinese Communist Party and normalising militarised instruction for young children.
