Penpa Tsering Secures Re-Election as Sikyong After Decisive Preliminary Vote

 Incumbent Sikyong Penpa Tsering has successfully secured re-election as the political leader of the Central Tibetan Administration. By capturing over 61 percent of the preliminary votes, he surpassed the crucial 60 percent threshold, entirely bypassing the need for a final runoff election. More than 51,000 Tibetans globally participated in this democratic process. During a recent press conference, the Election Commission officially declared his victory over rival candidates. Additionally, officials announced the newly shortlisted candidates representing various provinces and religious schools for the 18th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, outlining strict upcoming deadlines for confirming their ongoing candidacies.
