Monlam Melong outperforms global AI in Tibetan language tests

The Monlam Tibetan IT Research Centre announced that its Tibetan-language AI, Monlam Melong, has surpassed global models such as Gemini, Claude, and DeepSeek in Tibetan comprehension and generation. At the 2025 Monlam Manifest held at the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts, instructor Tenzin Gayche said Melong scored 73% on 1,500 test questions and 71% on a CBSE Class 12 Tibetan exam. The upgraded system introduces “Monlam Think,” enabling deeper analysis and multilingual, multimodal capability across 140 languages. The initiative aims to digitally preserve Tibetan language, culture, and knowledge through AI innovation.
