Leh Ramps Up Preparations for Dalai Lama’s June 28 Visit

His Holiness the Dalai Lama is scheduled to arrive in Ladakh on June 28, 2026, for an extended stay following his recovery from left knee replacement surgery in New Delhi. The Leh administration has reviewed security, traffic, crowd control, medical services and logistical arrangements for the visit. Officials also discussed sanitation, water supply and civic facilities at Jivetsal and His Holiness’s residence. The meeting included representatives from the Ladakh Buddhist Association, Ladakh Gonpa Association, police, health officials and the Tibetan refugee community. Preparations are also underway for His Holiness’s 91st birthday celebration on July 6, 2026.
