Forty-six Indian Members of Parliament have signed a Joint Declaration supporting the Tibetan people’s exclusive right to determine the reincarnation of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The move coordinated by the Tibet Advocacy Alliance-India, aims to counter China’s interference in Tibetan religious matters. According to the alliance, the MPs’ strong support sends a “resounding message to China” on safeguarding Tibetan religious and cultural freedoms. Several MPs, including Raju Bista and Sujeet Kumar, denounced Beijing’s attempts to impose its will on the succession process, calling it a direct attack on Tibetan identity and religious autonomy.
