Indian MP Dorjee Tshering Lepcha from the Rajya Sabha, representing Sikkim, visited the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile and met Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel and Deputy Speaker Dolma Tsering Teykhang. The Speaker thanked India for supporting Tibetans in exile for 65 years and praised Lepcha for using the term “Indo-Tibet border” in parliament. MP Lepcha received a copy of the 1947 “Shakabpa Passport” as a token of respect. The Deputy Speaker briefed him on Tibetan democracy, the “Year of Compassion,” and the situation inside Tibet.
