Indian mountaineers have scaled a 20,942 ft peak in Arunachal Pradesh's Gorichen range and named it "Tsangyang Gyatso Peak" after the 6th Dalai Lama. The peak, located near the Line of Actual Control, honors the Dalai Lama's legacy and contributions to the local Monpa community. According to NIMAS, the climb was one of the region's most challenging, with a 15-member team completing the ascent on September 21. The naming comes amid China's ongoing renaming of areas in the region, which India rejects as a territorial claim.
