Freedom Trail trek begins in Arunachal to honour Dalai Lama’s escape

Around 300 people, including Indian Army personnel, monks, and civilians, have begun a six-day “Freedom Trail” trek from Zemithang to Tawang Monastery, retracing the escape route of the 14th Dalai Lama in 1959. Organised by Tawang’s district administration, the event commemorates the Dalai Lama’s flight into exile and reaffirms India-Tibet cultural ties. Participants include local leaders and officials, with ceremonies held to honour His Holiness.
