Former Tibetan Minister Tashi Wangdi Passes Away at 78

Tashi Wangdi, a veteran Tibetan diplomat and former minister of the Central Tibetan Administration, has passed away at the age of 78 in Canada. Born in Tibet in 1947, he fled into exile in 1959 and began serving the Tibetan government-in-exile in 1966. Over four decades, he held ministerial roles in six key departments and served as the Dalai Lama’s representative in India, the Americas, and Europe. His last public appearance was in June 2024 for the release of his autobiography, My Life: Born in Free Tibet, Served in Exile, reflecting on a life devoted to Tibet’s cause.
